Hollow Pain

Filled with expectancy,
Life presents a hopeful picture,
Oh the possibility of a happy future.
Love, family, pure happiness,Oh the bliss...
Feelings of warmth and unbridled joy?
Yet sadly, In one moment, in one breath,
So much can change, So much can alter,
Nothing seems as it was before.
Remember those summer days?
When our love was fresh and young?
When music was in our steps,
And our heartbeats our song?
Oh how I long for past summer days,
Swing sets and walks, seashores and sunsets,
Love with you...
Now, as I sit at my desk and see you,
Surrounded by that gold edged frame,
I remember the flash, the screams, the pain,
Love lost, life so fleeting,
And I am filled with hollow pain.
