Beauty of the Bald Head - Lady

For Monica Drayton-Worrell, Rachild Springer, Kaye Robertson, Jennifer Sealy, Sade Leon-Slinger ladies who like myself, dared to be bald and beautiful.

We Dared
To shave our heads
When few females did
Wearing it with majestic carriage
And a secret smile
And questioning stares from the not so bold
And judgement calls from a few men creating crisis.

        Black female and bald
        Banished bone straight hair mentality
No sign of a distant past.
        Emancipate the spirit and soul
This shaven crown a beauty to behold.

                  He calls out,
"Love that bald head. I could kiss it and caress it,
Give you pleasure like you never had before."

Somehow, as Sandra correctly said,

"The symmetry must be right"
Small curve and shapely ears
Eyes of intelligence; kissable lips
Forehead exploding with knowledge of truth
Nose for smelling roses
And faces dusted in cocoa, mocha, chocolate,
Pure essence poured from the Master's hand
Talented, gifted, proud
We stand.

           Conjuring images ....
           Irresistible
           Yet knowing fingers
           Aching .... To touch
           Then lightly massaging
           Tickling the sleeping senses
           Stroking awake the consciousness
           of grey matter.
           Tingling the scalp
           Alive
           Forever proclaiming
The Beauty of the Bald Head ...
           Lady.

Inspired by Sandra E. Morris' compliment to our men in "Beauty of the Bald Head" hence this is a compliment to all the beautiful women who dared to bare their bald heads.
